As the usefulness of any visualization tool is dependent upon the information

dissemination of information is undertaken;
- Ensure that information is C.A.V.E.
compliant
- Development of reporting views that make sense for the business
- Hierarchical data and group structure definition
- End-user aggregation levels - each user will have a different need i.e. a
Board Member will not be concerned with a potential or actual $1,000 loss but
in a chain of losses exceeding $10,000 per day for a business area
- Timeliness of collection and collation of information to be visualized (per
second, daily, weekly, monthly)
- Alert and escalation procedures including notification tree structure and
delivery mechanism (Instant Messaging, Portal, Email etc…)
- Key Performance/ Risk Indicator metrics and thresholds, which may be derived
from other information, must be defined. These may include metrics around;
- Process improvement (such as 6 Sigma or TQM)
- Service Level Agreement
- Failure rates
- Staff performance metrics
- Operational efficiency/ profitability metrics
- Client profitability
